I have been designing and developing computer software solutions for over 20 years. I am a Chartered IT Professional awarded by the British Computer Society and a Fellow of the Institution of Analysts and Programmers.
Currently I run my own Software Development and Computer Consultancy company. In addition I also run Arten Books which provides new and used discount books through the Amazon Marketplace.
I am a Motorcycle fan, an avid reader of sci-fi, fantasy, history, thrillers and technical books, a guitar player, a traveller and a father.
In addition I have a special interest in ancient cultures, their technologies and beliefs, such as the Egyptians, the Aztecs, the Greeks and the Romans.
In September 2009 one of my products R10Cipher: Email, Text and File Security, was shortlisted as a Finalist for the 2009 Information Security Product of the Year award.

My new truck has been feelin the love just lately, I’ve installed a reversing camera, wired in my Sat-nav and installed a CB Radio. Just waiting for a couple of aerial bits to arrive tomorrow from Jim at 4x4cb.com.
On the list for future installation are some bigger alloy wheels, side steps rather than the side bars and a bull-bar for the front. They’ll have to wait a while though as time and funds are both finite

Book Review: Softwar

I’ve just finished reading Softwar: An Intimate Portrait of Larry Ellison and Oracle. This is a very well written and incredibly interesting insight into the company and the man who made it what it is today.
Far more interesting than Bill Gates, Larry Ellison is the brains behind the worlds 2nd largest software company. Anybody who flies a Russian Fighter Jet in their spare time is definitely worth reading about
Despite the fact that this book was written in conjunction with Larry it never feels that Larry has altered the text to suit himself, in fact there is footnote on many pages direct from Ellison in which he expands upon, and sometimes disagrees with the writer on a given point.
I found this book fascinating - if you know of Oracle and or Larry Ellison and you are interested in how decisions, and fortunes, are made by one of the worlds top technology firms - read this book.
